Weekly Photo Challenge: Fall

FALL- a word with quite a few meanings, and even more idioms! I’ve chosen three photos, all taken in the season we call Fall or Autumn, but demonstrating the direction ‘down’.

This Water Fall is in the Cascade Mountain Range in Washington State.

Here is a cabin on Whidbey Island that is starting to Fall Down.

Most of the leaves had Fallen Off the trees in Zion Park in Utah.

THE QUOTES:

A man should be judged by what he stands for, also by what he falls for.
Mark Twain

We have to learn to be our own best friends because we fall too easily into the trap of being our own worst enemies.
Roderick Thorp

Now it is your turn to think about the word Fall:  What is the most significant Fall  you have ever experienced?

  1. Great shots again. And Mark Twain is always a favorite of mine. As far as my own “fall” I must confess that I cannot expand beyond thinking about a fall I had from an ATV traveling 20 miles an hour on a mountain trail. It could have been quite bad but I ended up ok except I had to have my ACL completely removed in knee surgery, which did of course, have long-term consequences. I have had a few “fall from grace” moments as well but I’ll not go there this go-round :)

    • Hi winsomebella – I expect many surgeries have long term consequences when they involve a joint! As for falls from grace, I would think you are not alone in that one.

  2. Wow! Gorgeous photos, Margie. I appreciate Fall much more now that I live where that season exists. I’m in the autumn of my years now, so everything seems to be gaining that sunset glow. I’m enjoying it all.

    • Hi Mikey – I’m glad you have such a positive outlook about the autumn years of our lives. Many people see them as the declining years – the emptying of our cup of life. I prefer to think of them as the years where we get to finish filling up our cups!

  3. Glad to see you stopped by my cabin. Wish you would’ve knocked on the door. We’re still doing some improvements. Thanks for the upbeat look at things that fall.

  4. Hi Margie,
Lovely photo’s, love the old cabin, would be fun to do up I’m sure. I love the waterfall, excellent photo.
I will never forget a fall I had when I was a young girl, somehow or other I fell off a friends veranda, luckily not too far off the ground, but sprained my foot, I have been very careful ever since, to this day I do not know how on earth I managed to do it. :D

There, I'm finished. Now it is your turn:
