Weekly Photo Challenge: Hands
Besides lovemaking and singing in the shower, there aren’t many human activities where there is a greater difference between a person’s self-delusional ability and actual ability than in poker.

The Older Teacher: You have 14 points showing. What do you want to do?
The Younger Student: Go Fish?
Card games, or any game really, are wonderful tools for teaching children how to try and sometimes lose. Where else can a person learn how to push the envelope without being fearful of the consequences? How else can a child learn that winning isn’t what life is all about – being in the game is what is really important!

How True! The comment at the bottom is just plain scary!!
It is unfortunate that many people are more fearful of failing than they are of trying.
Thoughtful and inspired, just like you, dear lady!
How very nice -thanks!
No, thank you.
Very very good advice for both young and old alike! By the way Margie, I have terminated my old blog and starting anew with Dor’s Virginia Views at http://countryliving4beginners.wordpress.com . I hope you will follow me there!

Hi Dor – I’m looking forward to visiting you at your new blog. I’ve clicked the follow button so all that is left is for you to keep writing!
Well…failing isn’t fun, but I’ve discovered it seems to be my main avenue for learning. I don’t seem to watch and learn from others’ mistakes. I love the art/photo
You are so right about the avenues for learning. I can tell you five different techniques that did NOT make this photo look the way I wanted!
Hi,
What a great idea for the theme, great picture, as well as a very true quote.
Thanks Mags. I’ve been playing around with this photo for quite a while, but didn’t really have a story to go with it. This photo challenge was perfect.
love that look of contemplation his tented fingers are saying out loud … nicely done
Both sets of hands tell the story, don’t they!
Love the photo and the processing!
Thanks! It took quite a few layers and a lot of experimentation to turn the photo into a drawing, then add a bit of colour back in.
This was a great entry on your blog. Very thoughtful. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it Amanda.
Lovely effect, Margie, very cool. What filters did you use?
Thanks Mark. I’ll post the technique later this week.
And if you lose, and lose it – you may storm off – but can always come back to the table.
At our table, if you lose it, and you storm off, you had better come back with a smiley sheepish look!
