Waiting – Fisherman on a Wharf

The opposite of talking isn’t listening. The opposite of talking is waiting.
– Fran Lebowitz –

We were at the coast (British Columbia) last week. The weather was chilly, but not too cold for avid fishermen. I photographed this gent fishing … and waiting… and waiting… and fishing. I think you have to be patient if you want to enjoy this sport.

Last year I went fishing with Salvador Dali.  He was using a dotted line.  He caught every other fish.

  1. Wonderful photo…..
that is a way of looking at it…..talking/waiting
perhaps the opposite of listening should be acting or reacting (to that which was heard)

    • Hi RVingGirl – I think many people need to learn how to listen. Too many times we use the waiting time to formulate our response, when we should be digesting what the other person is actually telling us!

  2. Beautiful photo. I have to take a chair fishing. I get tired of standing and waiting. I love the poles that have bells on them, That way I can nap. Thanks for the outing.
